Ezopove basni
Aesop’s fables are brief, compact, and often mercilessly clear. The animals in them speak like humans, but not to be endearing: they lay bare pride, greed, fear, wisdom, and shortsightedness.

The surviving Greek source contains 522 imported entries. In addition to Halm’s main numbered entries, it also includes variants marked, for example, with the suffix b, so 522 is not the number of entries in a single ancient Aesopic canon. Each Greek entry is translated as a separate chapter.
The text is based on Karl Halm’s Greek edition, Fabulae Aesopicae collectae, Leipzig, 1852. The edition and the ancient Greek texts are in the public domain. Waltey retains the Greek DOCX file used, but the exact web address of the digital copy was not recorded at the time of the initial import; a verified facsimile of the same edition will therefore be needed before the text can be imported again.
