Prevod

A timid old man had an only son, a brave young fellow with a passion for hunting. One night he dreamed that his son was devoured by a lion. Afraid that the dream might come true, he built a beautiful house high above the ground and kept his son shut up inside it. To amuse the young man, he had the walls painted with all sorts of animals, including a lion. But the sight of them only deepened his sorrow. One day, standing before the lion, he said, “You hateful beast! Because of you and my father’s false dream, I have been locked up in this house as though in prison. What shall I do to you?” With these words, he struck the wall with his hand, intending to gouge out the lion’s eyes. A splinter pierced his finger, causing swelling and inflammation that spread as far as his groin. A fever followed and soon put an end to his life. Thus the lion killed the young man after all, and his father’s clever scheme did him no good.

The fable shows that no one can escape what is destined to happen.
