Prevod

A certain man, [perhaps] devout and upright in his conduct, lived comfortably with his children for a considerable time, but later fell into utter poverty. In the anguish of his soul, he blasphemed against God and felt driven to take his own life. So he took a sword and set out for a deserted place, choosing death rather than a life of misery. On his way, he happened upon a very deep pit in which a giant named Cyclops had stored a great deal of gold. When the [supposedly] devout man saw the gold, he was at once filled with fear and joy. He flung the sword from his hand, took the gold from the pit, and gladly returned to his home and children. Then Cyclops came to the pit and, finding the gold gone and seeing the sword lying there in its place, immediately seized it and killed himself.

This fable shows that misfortunes duly befall foolish men, while good things are laid up for the good and devout.
