A shepherd who owned an enormous dog used to feed it the miscarried lambs and any sheep that died. One day, as the flock came into the fold, the shepherd saw the dog approaching the sheep and wagging its tail at them. “Ah, you there!” he said. “May what you wish for them fall upon your own head!” This applies to a man who speaks like a friend but plots evil in his heart.
