Prevod

A swallow gathered the birds together in an assembly and advised them that it was best not to antagonize human beings, but to make friends with them and live on good terms. One of the birds, however, argued against her: “No, let us instead eat up all the flaxseed and leave none of it, so that they will no longer have anything from which to weave nets to catch us.” The swallow, whose counsel was the wisest, secured her own safety: she lives in towns and nests in people’s houses, suffering no harm at their hands. The other birds, however, persisted in eating the seed, believing it to be the source of all their troubles. As a result, they grew fat and, quite justly, were caught and eaten by human beings. Having thus suffered for their foolish judgment, they regretted not staying among people, but flying about in the open air instead.

So too, those who have used shrewd judgment in the affairs of life have kept themselves safe from danger.
