Prevod

A poor man who owned a wooden idol kept begging it to bring him good fortune. Yet the more he prayed, the deeper he sank into poverty. At last, in anger, he seized it by the leg and dashed it against the wall. Its head broke open at once, and gold poured out. Gathering it up, the man cried, “You are a perverse and ungrateful creature, it seems! While I honored you, you did me no good; but when I struck you, you rewarded me richly.” The fable shows that honoring a wicked man will bring you no benefit, but striking him will serve you better.
