Prevod

In Athens, a man whose creditor was pressing him to repay a debt first begged for more time, saying he had no money. When he could not persuade him, he brought out his only pig and offered her for sale in the creditor’s presence. A buyer came up and asked whether the sow bore young. The man replied that she not only bore young, but did so in a remarkable way: at the Mysteries she gave birth to females, and at the Panathenaea to males. When the buyer expressed amazement at this claim, the creditor said, “Oh, don’t be surprised! At the Dionysia she’ll even give you baby goats.”

The fable shows that many people, for their own profit, do not hesitate to bear false witness even to the impossible.
