Prevod

Once the hares gathered together and lamented to one another how precarious and full of fear their lives were. They were preyed upon by men, dogs, eagles, and many other creatures; better, then, to die once and for all than to spend their whole lives trembling. Having agreed on this, they rushed together toward a lake, intending to throw themselves in and drown. Now some frogs were sitting around the lake, and as soon as they heard the thudding of the hares’ feet, they leaped into the water. Then one of the hares, who seemed shrewder than the rest, said, “Stop, friends! Do yourselves no harm. As you can see, there are creatures even more timid than we are.” The fable shows that the unfortunate find comfort in others who suffer worse misfortunes.
