Prevod
An ass envied a horse for being so plentifully fed and carefully tended, while he himself had not even enough straw to eat, though he worked exceedingly hard. But when war broke out, a soldier in full armor mounted the horse and rode him here and there, at last charging into the very midst of the enemy, where the horse was struck down and lay fallen. Having witnessed all this, the ass changed his mind and pitied the horse.
The fable shows that we should not envy rulers and the rich, but, considering the envy directed against them and the dangers they face, be content with poverty.
