An ass climbed onto the roof and, as he frisked about, broke the tiles. A man came running and drove him down, beating him with a stick. The ass said to the man who was laying into his back, “Yet only yesterday and the day before, a monkey amused you by doing just the same thing!” The fable applies to people who hold mistaken views and bring danger upon themselves.
