A wolf once decided to disguise his true nature by changing his appearance, hoping in this way to secure an abundance of food. So he put on a sheepskin and grazed among the flock, deceiving the shepherd with his trick. When night fell, the shepherd shut the beast in the fold along with the sheep, barred the entrance, and made the enclosure thoroughly secure. But when the shepherd wanted something to eat, he killed the wolf with his knife.

So it is that those who assume a guise not their own have often lost their lives, finding that their disguise has brought great misfortune upon them.
