All good things, being weak, were driven away by the evils and ascended to heaven. There they asked Zeus how they should dwell among humankind. He told them to visit people not all together, but one at a time. That is why evils, being close at hand, come upon people continually, while good things descend more slowly from heaven.

The fable shows that no one meets with good fortune quickly, but everyone is struck by evils every day.
