Prevod

A mischief-maker wagered with someone that he could prove the oracle at Delphi false. When the appointed day came, he took a sparrow in his hand, concealed it beneath his cloak, and went to the temple. Standing before the oracle, he asked whether the creature he held in his hands was alive or dead. His plan was to show the sparrow alive if the answer was “dead,” but to strangle it and bring it out if the answer was “alive.” But the god, seeing through his trickery, said, “Enough of this, fellow! It rests with you whether the creature you hold is dead or alive.” The fable shows that the divine cannot be deceived.
