Prevod

A man spotted his runaway slave after a long absence and gave chase. When the slave reached a mill and took refuge there, the man said, “Where would I have been happier to find you than here?” As the leaves rustled, the hunters turned back and, supposing—as was indeed the case—that some animal was hiding beneath them, shot the deer dead with their arrows. As she lay dying, she said, “I have received my just deserts, for I should not have harmed what saved me.” The fable shows that those who wrong their benefactors are punished by God.
