Waltey

Prevod

When the mistletoe first began to grow, the swallow foresaw the danger threatening the birds. She gathered them all together and advised them, if possible, to cut the mistletoe from the oaks that bore it. If this proved beyond their power, they should seek refuge with humankind and beg people not to use the sticky substance made from mistletoe to catch them. But the birds accused her of talking nonsense, so she went herself to seek human protection. People welcomed her for her wisdom and took her into their homes. And so it came about that the other birds were caught and eaten, while the swallow alone, as a creature under their protection, could build her nest without fear even in their houses.

The fable shows that those who foresee what is to come are naturally able to ward off danger.
