O viru
Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe’s Norske Folkeeventyr is Norway’s foremost collection of folk tales: forests, mountains, trolls, perilous quests, and cunning heroes. The collectors gave the tales literary form, but explicitly presented them as material drawn from oral tradition.

We imported all 58 numbered entries from the table of contents of the expanded 1852 edition. The Norwegian transcriptions used are linked on Wikisource to facsimiles of that same edition. We have preserved the titles and boundaries, but the text still needs to be checked against the scan before final publication.

The source is the Norwegian Wikisource transcription of the 1852 edition. Both collectors died in the 19th century; the facsimile is marked with the Public Domain Mark 1.0, while the Wikisource transcription is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Waltey retains a link to the specific edition and a notice that the transcription has not yet been fully checked against the facsimile.
