Pentameron
Basile’s Pentamerone is an early, Baroque, and often wild European collection of fairy tales. Many motifs familiar from later versions are rougher here, more visceral, satirical, and linguistically exuberant.

The surviving Neapolitan source is divided into 50 daily tales; the last also brings the frame story to a close. Each unit is imported as a chapter. The Slovenian translation is being made directly from the Neapolitan literary dialect and, owing to its pronounced Baroque style, requires human editorial review.
Basile died in 1632, and his text is in the public domain. Waltey retains the Neapolitan DOCX used, but the exact historical edition or web address of the digital transcription was not recorded at the time of the initial import. The number 50 reflects the divisions in the preserved source; before importing it again, we will add a specific edition with a facsimile.
