Prevod

A poor man who was gravely ill vowed to sacrifice a hundred oxen to the gods if they would save his life. Wishing to put him to the test, the gods brought about his speedy recovery. Once he was back on his feet, however, he could not afford real oxen, so he fashioned a hundred out of tallow and burned them on an altar, saying, “There, gods, you have what I vowed.” The gods, wishing to trick him in return, sent him a dream advising him to go down to the seashore, where he would find a thousand Attic drachmas. Overjoyed, he ran to the shore, only to fall into the hands of robbers, who carried him off and sold him for a thousand drachmas.

This fable is well suited to a liar.
