Liu Chong of Dongyang, courtesy name Daohong, lived in Hushu. Each night, several measures of blood would appear in his courtyard, though no one knew where it came from. This happened three or four times. Later, Chong became General Who Breaks Enemy Lines and was ordered to campaign in the north. Just before his departure, all the rice being cooked turned into worms. His household tried steaming and frying it, but it still turned into worms. The fiercer the fire, the larger the worms grew. Chong went north nonetheless. His army was defeated at Tanqiu, and he was killed by Xu Kan.
