Prevod

A lark, whose cage hung in a window, was singing at night. A bat came up and asked her why she was silent by day but sang at night. “I have good reason,” she replied. “Once, while I was singing in the daytime, I was caught, and since then I have learned to be cautious.” The bat said, “But now is not the time to be on your guard, when it can do you no good. You should have been careful before you were caught.” The fable shows that regret after misfortune is of no use.
