In the sixth month of the fifth year of Emperor Wen’s Later Era, a dog grew horns outside Yong Gate in Qi. Jing Fang’s Commentary on the Book of Changes says: “When those in power lose the allegiance of those beneath them, who are about to turn against them, the portent is a dog growing horns.”
