Prevod

Two young men were buying meat together. When the butcher’s attention was elsewhere, one of them stole a piece of meat and slipped it into the folds of the other’s robe. When the butcher turned back and began looking for it and making accusations, the one who had taken it swore that he did not have it, while the one who had it swore that he had not taken it. The butcher saw through their trickery and said, “You may deceive me with your false oaths, but you will not deceive the gods.” The fable shows that perjury is just as impious however cleverly one contrives it.
