Prevod

A jackdaw saw some doves being well fed in a dovecote, so he whitened his feathers and went to join them, hoping to share their fare. As long as he kept quiet, the doves took him for one of their own and welcomed him. But one day he forgot himself and let out a cry. Recognizing his true nature, they beat him and drove him away. Having lost his food there, he returned to the jackdaws. But they, too, failed to recognize him because of his color and would not let him live among them. Thus, in seeking to enjoy both ways of life, he gained neither.

The fable shows that we too should be content with what we have, remembering that greed not only brings us no benefit but often robs us of what we already possess.
