Prevod
The oxen once sought to destroy the butchers, whose trade was their enemy. They gathered together and were already sharpening their horns for battle when one very old ox among them, who had ploughed many a field, said, “These men slaughter us with practiced hands and kill us without torment. But if we fall into the hands of men who lack their skill, our death will be twice as painful. For an ox will never lack someone to slaughter it, even if there are no butchers left.” [Whoever hastens to escape a present hardship should take care not to find something worse.]
The fable shows that it is better to serve wise and kindly masters than to be ruled by the boorish and ignorant.
