Prevod

A nightingale was perched in a tall oak, singing as she always did. A hawk, who was short of food, caught sight of her, swooped down, and seized her. As he was about to kill her, she begged him to let her go, saying that she was not big enough to fill a hawk’s belly, and that if he needed food, he ought to turn his attention to larger birds. But he replied, “I would be a fool indeed if I let go of the meal already in my grasp to pursue prey not yet in sight.” The fable shows that people, too, are foolish when they give up what they have in hand in the hope of something greater.
