At the beginning of the Jiaping era, under the Prince of Qi of Wei, an uncanny horse emerged from the Baima River. At night it passed the government pastures, neighing, and all the horses answered. The next day, its hoofprints were found, each as large as a grain-measuring tub. They ran for several li before leading back into the river.
