Prevod

Once two cocks were fighting over a hen, each seeking to win her as his mate. One was defeated and hid in a corner, having lost heart and fled. The other crowed loudly and flew up onto the roof, as though bearing a trophy of his victory over his enemy. “I have defeated my enemy,” he cried, “and put my rival utterly to flight!” While the cock was shouting these boasts, an eagle swooped down from above, seized the victor, and carried him straight to its young, making him food and drink for the nestlings. The other cock, meanwhile, lived freely and without fear, winning glory over the enemy who had vanquished and routed him and boasted of his triumph.

This fable is for men who defy the gods.
