Prevod

And lest the lofty heavens be safer than the earth,

they say the Giants aspired to the kingdom of heaven

and piled mountain upon mountain high toward the stars.

Then the almighty Father hurled his thunderbolt, shattering Olympus

and toppling Pelion from Ossa beneath it.

When those monstrous bodies lay crushed beneath their own vast pile,

they say Earth, drenched in the blood of her children,

breathed life into the warm gore

and, lest no trace of her offspring should remain,

changed it into human form. But this new race too

despised the gods and hungered savagely for slaughter;

violent they were: you could tell they were born of blood.
