Once a girl went from Brakel to St. Anne’s Chapel below the Hinnenburg, and since she was eager to have a husband and thought there was no one else in the chapel, she sang:

“O holy Saint Anne, Help me to get a man! You know him well: He lives outside the Suttmer Gate, And has yellow hair: You know him well!”

But the sexton was standing behind the altar and heard her, so he called out in his croaking voice, “You shan’t have him! You shan’t have him!” The girl, however, thought it was the little child Mary, who stands beside her mother Anne, calling out to her. This made her angry, and she cried, “Fiddlesticks, you silly child! Hold your tongue and let your mother speak!”
