During the Yongjia era, a sow in the city of Shouchun gave birth to a human child with two heads, which did not survive. Zhou Fu had it brought to him and examined it. Those versed in omens said, “The pig is a domestic animal of the north, an emblem of the Hu and Di peoples. Two heads signify the refusal to acknowledge a sovereign. To die at birth signifies a venture that will come to nothing.” Heaven’s warning seemed to say, “If you lightly conceive schemes for your own exclusive gain, you will bring about your own downfall.” Before long, Zhou Fu was defeated by Emperor Yuan.
