A wolf once snatched a sheep from a flock and was carrying it off to his den when a lion met him and took the sheep away. The wolf stood at a distance and said, “You had no right to take what was mine.” The lion laughed and replied, “And was it rightfully given to you by a friend?” This fable exposes greedy robbers who, though guilty of the same wrongdoing, find fault with one another.
