During the Jin dynasty, when the family of Du Xi, whose courtesy name was Shigu, held a burial, a maidservant was inadvertently left trapped inside the tomb. More than ten years later, the tomb was opened for another burial, and the maid was still alive. She said, “At first it was as though I had closed my eyes. After a little while, I gradually awoke.” When questioned, she thought she had been there “only a night or two.” She had been fifteen or sixteen when she was entombed, and when the tomb was opened, her appearance was unchanged. She lived on for another fifteen or sixteen years, was married off, and had a son.
