Prevod

A traveler on a long journey vowed to dedicate to Hermes half of whatever he might find. He came upon a bag containing almonds and dates and picked it up, thinking it held money. But when he shook it out and saw what was inside, he ate it all, then took the almond shells and the date stones and laid them on an altar, saying, “There, Hermes, my vow is fulfilled: I have given you both the outside and the inside of what I found.” This fable suits a miser whose greed leads him to try to outwit even the gods.
