A shepherd found a little wolf and raised it. When it had grown, he taught it to steal sheep from the neighboring flocks. Once the wolf had learned, it said, “Take care: by teaching me to steal, you may find yourself searching for many of your own sheep.” Those who are dangerous by nature, when taught to steal and take more than their share, have often done the greatest harm to their own teachers.
