Prevod
A donkey driver loaded a donkey and a mule and drove them on their way. As long as the ground was level, the donkey bore up under his burden; but when they came to a steep slope, he could no longer carry it and begged the mule to take a little of his load so that he could manage the rest. The mule paid no heed to his pleas, and the donkey fell over the precipice and was dashed to pieces. The driver, at a loss what to do, not only added the donkey’s load to the mule’s but also skinned the donkey and laid his hide on her back. Worn out by the crushing weight, she said to herself, “I have got what I deserve. If I had listened when the donkey begged me to lighten his burden a little, I would not now be carrying both his load and his hide.” So too, some lenders, in their greed, refuse to make even small concessions to their debtors and often lose their principal as well.
