A bear once boasted loudly that she was the most kindly disposed toward humankind of all the animals, for bears, they say, never eat the dead. Hearing this, a fox smiled and replied, “If only you ate the dead and not the living!” The fable exposes the greedy and those who live by hypocrisy.
