Prevod

A fox once came to a meadow where a flock of fine, fat geese were sitting. He laughed and said, “Why, I’ve come at just the right moment! Here you all sit so nicely together that I can gobble you up one after another.” The geese cackled in terror, sprang up, and began to wail and plead piteously for their lives. But the fox would hear none of it and said, “There is no mercy for you. You must die.” At last one of them plucked up her courage and said, “If we poor geese must lose our young, fresh lives, then grant us this one mercy: let us say a prayer first, so that we do not die in our sins. Afterward we will line up in a row, so that you can always pick out the fattest.” “Yes,” said the fox, “that is fair, and a pious request. Say your prayers; I will wait.” So the first began a very long prayer, going “Ga! Ga!” all the while, and as she showed no sign of stopping, the second did not wait for her turn but began “Ga! Ga!” as well. The third and fourth followed her, and soon they were all cackling together.

(And when they have finished their prayers, the tale shall be continued. But for now they are still praying.)
