A lion once reigned who was neither ill-tempered nor cruel nor violent, but gentle and just, like a human being. During his reign, all the animals gathered to settle their grievances with one another: the wolf with the sheep, the leopard with the wild goat, the tiger with the deer, and the dog with the hare.
