Prevod

A lion once caught sight of a bull. He longed for a meal, but feared the thrusts of its horns; though he had found the remedy for his suffering, he dared not apply it. Hunger pressed him hard, urging him to grapple with the bull, but the size of its horns frightened him away. At last he yielded to his hunger and approached the bull, feigning friendship to deceive him. For where danger is close at hand, even the brave take fright; and when they see that conquest by force is perilous, they devise a secret stratagem. “For my part,” he said, “I admire your strength and marvel at your beauty. What a splendid head, what a magnificent form, what powerful legs and mighty hooves! But what a burden you carry on your head! Rid yourself of those useless encumbrances: your head will be more graceful, you will be relieved of their weight, and you will be all the better for the change. Besides, what need have you of horns when there is peace between bulls and lions?” The bull believed him, and, once he had cast away the weapons that gave him strength, he became easy prey for the lion—a meal to be enjoyed without danger.

So listening to one’s enemies brings not only deception but danger as well.
