A goat, desperately thirsty in the summer heat, climbed down a steep bank to drink. But once he had drunk his fill, he could not climb out again. Regretting his mistake, he looked for someone to help him. A fox saw him and said, “You fool! If you had as much sense as you have hairs in your beard, you would never have gone down without first considering how to get back up.” The lesson is that we should consider the outcome of our actions before we act.
