Prevod

A gnat approached a lion and said, “I am not afraid of you, and you are no stronger than I am. If you think otherwise, what does your strength amount to? Scratching with your claws and biting with your teeth? A woman does as much when she fights with her husband. I am far stronger than you. If you like, let us do battle.” Then the gnat sounded his trumpet and attacked, biting the hairless parts of the lion’s face around his nostrils. The lion tore at himself with his own claws until he gave up in exasperation. Having defeated the lion, the gnat sounded his trumpet, sang a song of victory, and flew away. But he became entangled in a spider’s web, and as he was being eaten, he lamented that, after fighting the mightiest, he was perishing at the hands of a lowly creature—a spider.

The fable is for those who bring down the mighty, only to be brought down by the weak.
