Prevod

He was a man who never ate fish. Having spent a long time in the capital performing rites at the court’s invitation, he grew weak from going without it. On his journey home, he stopped near the Jōrokudō at Nashima to eat his midday meal from a traveling food box. One of his disciples begged some fish from a nearby household and offered it to him. Later, the man who had given the fish had a dream in which terrifying beings were marking the houses in the neighborhood, but passed over his own. When he asked why, one of their messengers replied, “This is the house that offered fish to Sōzu Eichō. That is why we leave it unmarked.” That year, an epidemic struck every household in the village, and many people died. Only the house of the man who had given the fish escaped. He therefore went to see the Sōzu and told him what had happened. On hearing his account, the Sōzu gave him a robe and sent him home.
