Jelen in njegova mati
A mother deer was admonishing her son. “My child,” she said, “nature has given you antlers, and you are blessed with a powerful frame. I cannot understand what makes you run away when the hounds come at you.” Just then, the sound of hounds running could be heard in the distance. Though she urged her son to stand his ground, she herself was the first to flee.
It is easy to give advice that is harder to follow.

Ἔλαφον ἡ μήτηρ ἐνουθέτει, ταῦτα λέγουσα· ,,κέρας, ὦ παῖ, παρὰ τῆς φύσεως εἴληφας, μεγέθει δὲ διενήνοχας σώματος, καὶ οὐκ οἶδ’ ὅ, τι παθών ἀποδιδράσκεις ἐπιόντας τοὺς κύνας.“ Ταῦτα ἦν, καὶ κυνῶν δρόμος ἠκούετο πόῤῥωθεν. δὲ μένειν τῷ παιδὶ παραινέσασα αὐτὴ τῆς φυγῆς προκατήρξατο.
Παραινεῖν ἕτοιμον, ἃ ποιεῖν ἀπορώτερον.
