Deng Xi, a garrison commander of Wu, slaughtered a pig as an offering to the gods. Once the carcass had been dressed, he hung it up. Suddenly, he saw a human head come to eat the meat. Xi drew his bow and struck it with an arrow. The head made a chattering noise and circled the house for three days. Later, someone accused Xi of plotting rebellion, and his entire household was put to death.
