Prevod

Once upon a time there was a lad walking along a road, cracking nuts. He came upon a worm-eaten one, and just then he met the Devil. “Is it true,” said the lad, “what people say—that the Devil can make himself as small as he likes and squeeze through the eye of a needle?” “Yes!” answered the Devil. “Oh, let me see you do it, then, and crawl into this nut,” said the lad, and the Devil did. Once he had crawled in through the wormhole, the lad plugged it with a little stick. “Now I’ve got you!” he said, and put the nut in his pocket. When he had gone a little farther, he came to a smithy. He went inside and asked the blacksmith if he would crack the nut for him. “Yes, that’ll be easily done,” answered the blacksmith. He took his smallest hammer, laid the nut on the anvil, and struck it, but it would not break. Then he took a slightly larger hammer, but that was not heavy enough either; so he took a larger one still, but that did no good either. At last the blacksmith grew angry and took up his sledgehammer. “I’ll break you yet!” he said, and struck with all his might. The nut shattered with such a crash that half the smithy roof flew off, and it sounded as though the whole place were coming down. “I reckon the Devil himself was in that nut!” said the blacksmith. “Yes, so he was,” answered the lad.

Gutten.
