This, too, is a tale of long ago. When Lord Naritō died, the retired lord of Midō said, “Surely he must have had some last words to leave behind. What a pity.” He summoned Bishop Kanshū of Gedatsuji, who went to Naritō’s house and performed rites over him. As he prayed, the dead man suddenly returned to life, said what he needed to say, and then closed his eyes once more—or so the story goes.
