Nature once gave kites as sweet a song as swans. But when they heard horses neighing, they fell in love with their voices; and in trying to imitate them, they lost the gift they had for the sake of the skill they sought to learn. For they never learned to neigh, but forgot how to sing.

Imitating what does not suit us robs us of the gifts we have.
