Sonce in severni veter
The Sun defeated the North Wind. For when the wind tried to force the man to take off his cloak by blowing fiercely upon him, he only drew it tighter and held it more firmly about him. But when the wind had ceased and the sun grew warm, the man began to feel its warmth, then its scorching heat, and took off not only his cloak but his tunic as well.
Most women behave in the same way. When their husbands try to deprive them of luxury and extravagance by force, they resist fiercely and grow angry; but if they are persuaded by reason, they give these things up willingly and embrace moderation.

Ὁ ἥλιος τὸν βορέαν ἐνίκησεν. Ὁ γὰρ ἄνθρωπος, τοῦ μὲν ἀνέμου βιαζομένου τὸ ίμάτιον ἀφελέσθαι καὶ λαμπρὸν καταπνέοντος, μᾶλλον ἔσφιγγε καὶ συνεῖχε τὴν περιβολήν. Τοῦ δὲ ἡλίου μετὰ τὸ πνεῦμα θερμοῦ γενομένου θαλπόμενος, εἶτα καυματιζόμενος, καὶ τὸν χιτῶνα τῷ ἱματίῳ προσαπεδύσατο.
Τοῦτο ποιοῦσιν αἱ πλεῖσται γυναῖκες. Ἀφαιρουμένοις τοῖς ἀνδράσι βίᾳ τὴν τρυφὴν καὶ πολυτέλειαν διαμάχονται καὶ χαλεπαίνουσιν· ἂν δὲ πείθωνται μετὰ λόγου, πρᾴως ἀποτίθενται καὶ μετριάζουσιν.
