Sočutje prikliče dež

Zhou Chang was kind by nature and deeply devoted to his mother from his youth. He lived alone with her. Whenever he was away and she wished to call him home, she would bite her own hand; Chang would at once feel pain in his hand and return. An administrative officer did not believe this. Waiting until Chang was working in the fields, he asked Chang’s mother to bite her hand, and Chang immediately came home. In the second year of the Yuanchu era, Chang became Intendant of Henan. That summer there was a severe drought, and prolonged prayers brought no relief. Chang gathered the remains of more than ten thousand people who had died far from home near the walls of Luoyang and gave them proper burial in a communal cemetery. At once, a drenching rain fell.
