In the first year of the Yongkang era under Emperor Hui of Jin, a strange bird was found in the capital, but no one could name it. Lun, Prince of Zhao, sent someone to carry it through the city and its marketplaces, asking people what it was. That same day, a boy west of the palace saw it and declared, unprompted, “A fuliu bird.” The man carrying it returned and reported this to Lun. Lun sent him to seek out the boy, and he found him again and brought him into the palace. The bird was securely caged, and the boy was locked in a room with it. When they went to look the next day, both had vanished.
